Getting Organized

There has been talked about becoming affiliated with VCU as an official student organization and becoming a bit more organized in an administrative sense. How has that been coming? I can help a bit, but this semester is getting increasingly busy for me, so I will need assistance. Who's with me?

The student organization needs a person to go to all the meetings. That requires someone with responsibility and time. Which is why it hasn't been done in two years...

It doesn't need to be the same person for everything all the time. For the meetings, I'm pretty sure it just needs to be a VCU student, not the same one every time. I can do a good amount of work, but I will need assistance. It doesn't need to be that much either.

We were an official organization one year and received funding, which took our equipment from a rag tag assortment of PVC, to fiberglass and class.

What you need to do is go to the SOSC, the student organization services center. They'll give you a form to fill out, you'll need 5 VCU students onboard. You also need to nominate a president, vp and money handler.

After that you'll need to attend several meetings. A couple years ago when we did it they were called presidential round tables.

If you need any advise or help with stuff feel free to ask me (or even better, go find someone who's currently in VCU student government).

You should take the lead on this.

we exceed the 5 VCU student requirement. off the top of my head there is Ret, Rover, Balian, Reverend, Fuzz, and myself. I was at one point the club President but i do not know what happened with that as VCU removed that title from me when I took a semester off. I volunteer to handle the money aspect of the club if someone else can take the president position.

Since I'm spear-heading this, I can be president, unless someone else really wants to be president. Thank you for the information/help people. I'll start talking to the SOSC as soon as the weather clears up.

man, i still think if the group receives funds from vcu than everyone should have to have "VCU" written all over them in giant gold & black letters with huge rams on their shields, otherwise it's too ridiculous.

although to be honest, with budget cuts/these harsh economic times/etc. i wouldn't really hold my breath for funding again...

You people underestimate my political skills greatly. I don't see a problem with representing VCU somewhere on our uniforms and/or weapons. Anyway, as of now, I have a president (me), and a treasurer (Stone), but I need a Vice President. Who wants the position?

On a lighter note, I went to the Student Organizations office today, and as I walked up to the desk, the guy at the desk went "oh boy."
